Server Could Not Bind To The Transport

Set up a new pc on my home Network for my son but when he tries to play online (call of duty) getting this error:

 

Event Type: Error

Event Source: Server

Event Category: None

Event ID: 2505

Date: 03/08/2004

Time: 14:39:45

User: N/A

Computer: GTI

Description:

The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{Dxxxxxxx-Bxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxx) because another computer on the network has the same name. The server could not start.

 

Put in the X cause not sure if I should show that?

 

Help!! :blink:

Computers on a LAN have to have unique names.

 

Right click on my computer and check your PC names. If they are the same you have to change one of them.

Well then, I dunno.

 

Did you have them named the same at one time and then change it?

 

If so then I would say clear all temp files and cookies, reboot everything, including your modem. Then bring up the LAN and try again. ( I am assuming you are on broadband)

 

 

 

Ohter than that my enthusiasm to help is only exceeded by my ignorance. :woot:

Description:

A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP address of the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use nbtstat -n in a command window to see which name is in the Conflict state.
