Recommended Posts

hello..again guys!. ;) ...i have an odd question...Iam fairly new to XP,( got new xp pc 4 weeks ago )..on window ME I never had this odd problem...ok...any way to disable/remove the windows XP .net auto passport thing? for example....when i go into msn chat, under wondows ME, I could create a passport hundreds of times, an select a nic for chat, an keep my self highly protected from hackers an chat scripters...well, under windows XP, now..I cant seam to be able to do this, It Keeps the one passport permantly somehow, even when I clean cookies. cleaning cookie sunder ME would prevent that, and i could create a new passport easily. It seams XP, microsoft ,wants to "spy" on us....which I hate!..sorrry guys if this is confusing :blank: must be someway, I hope, To disable this .Net passport record keeping thing  ...or whatever its really called.basicly I cant create a new passport ,only the one..as if Xp-microsoft, stores this permantly somewhere on this pc..I want to remove/disable this....any ideas???again sorry if this is confusing...but you guys are smart, so hopefully someone knows what iam talking about..thanks guys! ;) Edit: Under topic in forums its says net passporn...well this post has absolutly NOTHING to do with PORN!!! it was a dang typo, god i hate TYPOs!!!!!....is was supposed to say net passPORT...sorry :(

This might help, but I'm not sure

Start, Run, 'control userpasswords2' (minus quotes)

This gives you the Windows 2000 style Passwords control panel

Move to the Advanced TAB. Now, under the Passwords and .NET Passports, click Manage Passwords

Remove any user you don't want the computer to remember.

If you run through the .NET Passport Wizard (when you first try to sign in to Messenger), there's an option to Associate your Windows User Account with the Passport you just made/signed into. Try unchecking that.

And no, you don't have to get a new passport everytime you run the wizard. :)

Or create another user acct on the computer and configure that one with a diff net passport and do not check the remember me box. Then you should be able to log in with any name and password you wish.

hit start/control/adminstrative tools/services while in services look for secondary logon, when you find it right click hit properties, and disable it restart then you can take out .net as you installed it when you where updating at the windows update site.
