Supershield definition download started failing about a week ago.  Every day I get this message repeatedly.  Does anyone know what causes it and how to fix it?pcmaticDownloadFailed.png.46f560ad6b2526f553db37a7f9f52b00.png

Please open your web browser, then copy and paste the links below, one at a time, into the address bar, then hit the Enter key:

 

defs.pcpitstop.com/3.0.15.0/pcpsfed.dat

 

defs.pcpitstop.com/3.0.15.0/pcpsfed-inc.dat

 

Follow the prompts to download each file to the computer, use the navigation tools to put the file somewhere that you can find it easily.

 

Once you have the files downloaded, go to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder Options (or File Explorer Options in Windows 10) and click on the View tab, then move the dot to "Show hidden files and folders" and click on Apply.

 

Next, navigate to C:\Program Data\PCPitstopDat and move the downloaded pcpsfed.dat and pcpsfed-inc.dat file to inside of the datRTP folder that is at that location.

 

After you have both files inside the datRTP folder, reboot the computer and let us know if the issue is not resolved.

I have followed these instructions and the problem does not go away.  I have uninstalled Supershield, rebooted and reinstalled Supershield but the problem persists.  I am at a loss to know what is causing the problem.  However, I did the manual update and feel secure for the moment.

i am having this same problem. i sent a message to support but have not received a response although i sent the message several days ago. i will try this recommended fix

The responses from Support have been rapid with many suggestions but there doesn't seem to be a resolution.  I did some system snooping and found if have run afoul of the Windows 10 0x800703f1 bug. See explanation here:

It seems it is related to corrupted or misconfigured system files and the only best solution is a clean install of Win 10.  I also have been unable to update Windows 10 except for some vulnerability patches for over a year.

The two may not be related since I was able to get auto updates of definition files before the problem began.

Since the beginning of May, 2019 I have been having this problem.  The links provided for your particular operating system aree, as in "404." Vimeo doesn't have that file.

 

Since this is a system-wide anomaly and I am am sure by now you masterminds have found the cause and developed a fix, it is your responsibility to issue the fix in a most expeditious manner. Enough already.

Hello Everyone.  I'm sorry that you guys are having issues and are not receiving our replies.  ..I have initiated an email from our Customer Service Location to Subspook and PCC.  if you do not receive the email please check your spam folder,  IF it is not there then Please Contact Your ISP or Mail provider for additional assistance.  It's possible that they are blocking before it even gets to you.  

 

Hello Subspook Very sorry for any lost communications.  I have searched but do not find a request in our Customer Service records from  your registered email  anytime this year.  The most recent records I have are from Posted on: 02 December 2018 03:38 PM    Thank you for contacting PC Pitstop Customer Service.
You can click on the green shield icon in the lower right corner of the Windows desktop screen by the time display, select Protection Level, then set the Blocking Notification Method to Prompt for Override (Advanced).

Sorry for this continuing issue.  I see you are working with Jeff from Customer Service and that his most recent reply was yesterday 6/20.  Jeff is the head of our Customer Service Department and I'm sure that he will be able to resolve this issue.  He is absolutely your best source for assistance.

 

Hello PCC. Very sorry this issue has returned for you.  Our last reply from the email provided, indicated your issues was 'resolved".  I find  no correspondence since then.  If you are still having issues, you can use the same email and simply reply to re open the ticket  I have sent a new response to you from that older ticket That would be the best way to continue.    Posted on: 18 May 2019 09:34 AM issue appears to be resolved. thank team for your persistence.
