Windows 7 Home Edition show unidentified network

Recommended Posts

My Windows 7 Home Edition computer connects to my ASUS router but shows up as an unidentified network with no internet connection. Up until a week ago I had a connection. I have read a lot about the issue and see some have been able to fix this. But I have had no luck. One guy even suggested manually putting in DNS numbers 8888 and 8844, another suggested disabling IPV6 and that didn't work. Currently the DNS numbers are automatic. When I tried to manually submit DNS numbers the dialog box had a number for the default gateway that I didn't know. It also asked for the ip address which I did not know. The computer is on the network it just will not allow internet access.

Have you tried simply flushing the dns?

Open an elevated command line and type:

ipconfig /flushdns
