You might want to give that a read if you use AVG. Fortunately I haven't used AVG in years but until this always regarded them positively. With this, however, i urge anyone using AVG to uninstall it right now and replace it with an alternative like Avira, Kaspersky, or others.

Add that to the fact Windows 10 phones home all the time you might as well forget privacy. Glad I'm running openSUSE!

Yep, they're moving to the dark side and selling what they can gather.

Secure Search can be awful to remove even with adwCleaner.

They do have a removal tool for it and I recommend it gets run even after a traditional uninstall has taken place.

AVG PC Tune Up Removal Tool: http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/TuneUp_Remover.exe

Another method that can be necessary after removal, because it's updater continues to function:

vToolbarUpdater
Startup type : Windows Service
Service Name : vToolbarUpdater
Display Name : vToolbarUpdater
Dll path : Not Answered.
Image path : C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVG Secure Search\vToolbarUpdater\8.0.1\ToolbarUpdater.exe
Current Status : Auto/Running
How to disable this service.
Open a command prompt. (Run a command prompt as Administrator in Windows vista/7/8)
Copy command line and Paste.
sc stop "vToolbarUpdater"
press Enter
sc config "vToolbarUpdater" start= disabled
press enter
How to delete this service.
sc delete "vToolbarUpdater"

:) Y
