Shwicon XP 9106 Error Message

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone who knows anything about the "Shwicon XP 9106 ! Load configuration file failed" Error message that randomly shows up on my computer? This just started happening within the last week. And when I get the message window on my screen, the computer becomes inoperable. Then I have to manually shut it down and start it back up. Everything works for awhile, then I get the message again. Haven't found much info on this, so I am clueless on how to fix this. I also have gotten three other Error Messages along with this, but haven't seen them lately. They are :

~ STService.exe - Application Error. The instruction at 0x0000000000BDE9E5 referenced memory at 0x0000000000BDE9E5. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000056

~ C:\Windows\System32\msdt.exe

~ IAStorIcon.exe - Application Error. Process ID = 0x1184 (4484) Thread ID = 0x1018 (4120) What the freak is goin' on? I had the computer for 3 years without a glitch. And now this.! Any ideas? I hope my computer isn't ready to STB! Thank you in advance for any help!!!

Try this for a start:

1. Hit Windows Key + R simultaneously.

2. Type MSConfig in the box then click OK.

3. Select Startup tab.

4. Find SHWICONXP9106 (if its there) & untick the box against it. Hit OK.

5. Reboot & see what happens.

Thank you kburra for your suggestion, but this didn't work. SHWICON XP 9106 was not listed. And just to make it known, I have a Dell XPS 8300 Desktop with and Intel i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 8 GB of RAM, a 64 bit Operating System with Windows 7. Also some additional information on this problem. Over the last few days when my computer did lock up, I do not received the Shwicon XP 9106 Error Message. When my computer is up and running, I could be using any given application, everything is functioning smoothly, then, without notice or warning, everything will just lock up. I look at my Desktop and all my Shortcut Icons are gone. Any application I try to open up won't or the window will come up and it is blank. My only option is to shut the computer down manually. And just today, I decided to purchase the PC Matic Home and download it to my computer, since my McAfee membership is about to expire. I ran the PC Matic program, cleaned up my computer. The performance of our computer seemed much better. But when used the computer to go online to log into this PCpitstop Forum to add additional comments, the computer locked up on me several times. I was typing along, then everything stopped working. A message popped up saying that PCpitstop web page stopped loading. One time I received a "MsSpellCheckingFacility.exe - Application Error. The message said that "The instruction at 0x000000013F36B431 referenced memory at 0x000000002309BE9. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0x0000056." I am totally dumbfounded now! And the other thing that I should mention is that we have two computers in our house connected to the same Internet Cable. One has a problem, the other works fine, which is the one I am using now to type out this Post. I guess I will have to take the computer to a shop and have them analyze it if I can't get an answer to this problem from someone in the Forum Community. This is my last hold out. Hopefully someone has dealt with this problem before and can give advice on how to fix the problem. Many thanks in advance!

There appear to be three unrelated files involved in the errors. Shwicon is associated with the Allnet USB 6-in-1 card reader. STService.exe is part of Dell DataSafe Local Backup. The Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT.exe) is described here.

I'd guess that reinstalling or updating the card reader driver would fix that, and the same may be true for DataSafe.

As I keep looking for an answer to my computers problem, I'm finding a somewhat of a trend. The last error message that I received was when I was using Skype. I haven't used this program for awhile, but my wife needed to use it for some family issues, so I logged into my account and left the window open on the screen until she needed to use it. Came back later and everything on the screen was gone. Just the wallpaper showing. And it was locked up. So I manually shut it down and started it back up again. Logged back into Skype, and waited to see what happened. Soon an Error Message came up saying "Skype.exe - Application Error". The message below this said pretty much the same thing as the one for my "MsSpellCheckingFacility.exe - Error Message" and the "STService.exe - Error Message" except all the long set of numbers and letters were different. But the end of the message was the same, saying "The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of OxOOOOO56. Still clueless. Still researching. Thank you TomGL for your suggestions.
