Exterminate Problem On 2Nd Pc

Recommended Posts

I installed and purchased Exterminate on my laptop and it worked just fine. Now that I try it on my desktop, it seems to install just fine, then does the definition and scan part fine as well. When the scan is finished and I attempt to remove any threats, I start to get error messages pop up. There are quite a few, one after another when I click ok, and they all begin with "Registry". It never lets me finish. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times with the same problem every time. It may be important to know that I do also have Optimize on this computer and it is actually under a different user name and password... but so is my laptop and everything works fine on that one. But when i am logged in with the correct login for Exterminate it does correctly recognize my license key, name, etc. Any ideas?

Make sure that you are both installing and running the program from an administrator account. You can right-click on the icon(s) and select 'Run as' and assign an administrator account.

If that does not resolve the issue, run the Windows registry repair tool from the link below:

http://files.pcpitstop.com/support/Repair-ActiveX.cmd

If you are using Vista, Windows 7, or a 64 bit operating system, first save the file above to your desktop, then right-click on the saved file and select, "Run as administrator".

When you run the tool you should see a command window open and be able to watch the tool's progress. The tool may appear to 'hang' once or twice, but if you wait the tool should complete.

If the repair tool does not fix the problem, another common problem is WMI corruption. To check for this:

* Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage.

* Open the "Services and Applications" tree.

* Right-click the "WMI Control" item and select Properties.

In the dialog that appears, you should see this message:

If you see error messages, try the steps recommended on this page to rebuild the WMI Repository:

Or the steps from here to repair permissions:
