Window 7 launches

This can only mean one thing....new build time.

I'm on a week hols next week (coincedence, me thinks not) and the parts are starting to build up in the spare room for next weeks build:

i7 cpu

Akassa nero fan

Gigabyte UD5 MOB

Antec 920 case

WD black H drives 2 X 1Tb (not sure on the raid config yet)

Basic gigabyte graphics card (don't game)

Sony dvd rw

Sony floppy (had to get one)

Akassa multi card reader

Still not settled on memory yet, had ordered some OCZ tri channel, but they are out of stock, so with the money I saved by not buying a mad graphics card thinking of going for some of these:

Gskill tridents

Thoughts please :adios:

Looks good.

The G.Skill is a solid choice.

Where did you find a Sony floppy? I've been looking all over for one.

Thanks to the postal strike M$ is releasing it early in the UK to try and get them to customers on time.

guys whats the windows 7 oem? its a lot cheaper so whats the catch?

I was wondering that too. . . . I notice it says "This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed."

There is no difference in the os itself. You can only install oem on one system.

Interesting . . . So I wonder why anyone would buy the retail version. . . . Just to avoid having to make a phone call and explain that they changed hardware?

I think also in the past the OEM version has been considerably cheaper than retail, I have always bought OEM as I'm not sure I want M$ technical help. But being able to buy the full version of W7 with a pre-release price of £48 kind of swayed me.
