anybody know how to fix this

Recommended Posts

i cleared the cache, and uninstalled norton, not with the uninstaller link you gave me, because my program didn't seem to have a key, and i dont have internet to get it, nor my usb work. i even tried to turn off the router and stuff then connect it back.

but the internet still doesn't work, just keeps saying Failed to connect.

right now i'm using the laptop, which is using the same internet, and its working just fine

wow, i fixed my internet somehow, now it's back to being slow, the computer-_-.....but the startup and program running seems to go faster now but still slow (and on the right side the icons are showing up again)

ooo okay, my parents will freak if i update it to 2009 because i have to pay-_-, and then some1 recommended me the avast, the download came with a keygen so

and it seems to be backt o normal, but then now my internet is messed -_-, it's like the connection is interrupted everytime i refresh. Everytime i try to repair the network connection, it keeps saying fail to complete following action : cleaning DNS cache

As well, i didn't check off the disc defrag on ASC, so it defrag for me, so i don't have to do it for smart defrag right?

What you do is your business but I wouldn't suggest any warez and I'd be surprised if that keygen ISN'T infected. You can use what you'd like but Avira is a superior application.

As for the refresh/interrupt deal are you using wireless or hardwire?

Can you tell me what the icons are for?

they're the icons that show up when startup, like the spot where windows messenger icon would be and other programs i guess that run automatically during setup

and i use cable,through a router.

changed to avira as well

Here's the new overdrive test, finally got it

Ok, you still have several unnecessary processes running @ startup as well as @idle that are using precious resources.

Do you use the ATI Catalyst Control Center or ATI Hot keys? The bonjour service can be set to disabled in services.msc, omni page(unless you use your scanner for OCR on a regular basis) and rich video aren't necessary either. Google Toolbar Notifier can be disabled. Realtek Audio Manager should be disabled unless you use it frequently to change the EQ settings and what not.

Messenger can be done through ccleaner or its own Tools>options>general and uncheck Automatically run... and Allow automatic sign in then>Apply.

I have yet to figure out how to permanently disable Speech (ctfmon.exe). Now about the indexing service associated w/ Corel, I'd disable it as well. It's constantly in the background "keeping tabs" on you media folder w/ in Corel itself so you have to contend w/ it for HDD read/writes and it can hinder x-fer speeds.

Next, go to Control Panel>Power Settings and assuming this is a desktop, set the power setting to Home/Office Desk or Always On. You can do that if it's a laptop so long as you have it plugged in.

Here's your newwest video driver, To change the internet receive buffer, download and install this utility. Once it's open, slide the pointer to match your rated download speed>click Optimal settings>Apply Changes. You'll be prompted to backup the registry then reboot to apply the new settings.

Do those steps if you can and let us know how it's doing afterwards. Keep in mind that if you update your video driver after disabling those services I mentioned earlier, they'll come back so you might wanna update the driver first if you intend to disable them.

okay, so i disable those startups through 'msconfig'? and for the corel draw indexer, my dad uses it for work so i can't take it off. As well i can't find the 'bonjour service' anywhere in the services.msc.

It also might be a while till i do this step, because the Avira is still updating

Sorry for the wait on a reply...

You can check in services.msc, ccleaner and ASC. If your dad uses Corel then leave it be. Bonjour should have a listing in either of those as well, if not, uninstall iTunes if you do not use it or do not have an iPod.

ooo i don't have itunes on this computer......weird....but i'll check anyways.

for the avira, the update is terribly slow, there was this update file that has like 413 000 mb (i think), so i aborted it, and now i'm running it again, is there any way to have it update faster?

I don't believe there's a way to make it update any faster.

Here are instructions on how to manually update it and this is the current definition file.

Look over this link and see if any of the software listed is on the PC.

okay got those done, my computer seems to have startup faster now, but when starting a program like mozilla or any other thing, it takes like half a minute to load/start

as well does the lag graphics or low dps on my computer games have to do with me not running the ATI catalyst control program?

It's always been my experience that FF doesn't open quite as quick as IE or other browsers. If your using Smart Defrag w/ optimized settings, it'll keep track of the stuff you use most and those things will open more quickly than something that you rarely use.

If your framerates were fine before it's likely a driver issue. As a rule of thumb about drivers, if your hardware is working fine, a newer driver won't likely benefit you and can at times cause problems.

Try rolling your driver back and see what happens.

i didn't notice it at first, because i left the computer on after i clicked the link till night time, then next morning when i needed to use the usb they all dont seem to have any reaction. AFter the link click , i alreayd noticed my programs begin to load slower then usual, and began to constantly quick lag freeze then back to normal. (like no response from program but then it's suddenly running again)

Just for safety sake, start a HJT thread and request Juliet. She's been in this thread and will have a lil history. If you want, we can continue in here as well.
