Unable to access 192.168.1.1 on desktop

Recommended Posts

have you tried a different cable? can you ping the router? have you checked to be sure that your pc isn't using a static ip? have you tried a simple release/renew of your ip?

I have tried a different cable. A the moment I am unable to ping the router or check my IP as I am installing a new HDD. I will get back as soon as I can.

Make sure that your computer is in the same subnet as the router.

So if you do ipconfig from the command prompt your ip should be in the 192.168.1.xxx range ... if its not try manually specifying your IP for in your LAN connection properties...go to configure TCP/IP and you can use the following:

IP: 192.168.1.250

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Then try to access your router.
