People with PC Pitstop Erase

Recommended Posts

That is definitely not right. Please try an uninstall/reinstall. You can get a clean version from here: http://pcpitstop.com/store/service.asp

Erase also comes with a 30-day 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee. If you purchased from us, you can use the same link. If you purchased from Computer Associates, you will need to contact them: http://store.ca.com/dr/v2/ec_main.entry11?...5&sp=10107&pn=1

or call 877-694-8509

It would also be a great help if you could email us the logfile found at C:\Program Files\ PC Pitstop\Erase\PCPEraser.log as I have not heard of this issue before.

edit: by any chance, is it at the 'Instant Messaging history' that this happens??

Can you describe what is happeneing when it crashes?

If it appears that nothing is happening, it is possible that it is just taking a while to complete the scan. The first time it scans can be a bit lengthy, but the more often it is used the faster it will scan.

Have you tried starting the scan and leaving it for an extended period of time, or is something else happening where that would not be an option?

Thank you for your patience.

When it gets to the "Windows Recent documents" part of the scan, it stops and then an error pop-up comes saying PC Pitstop Erase Cleaner Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then closes.

It would be nice is this weren't crippleware. I'd like to know what the program is going to do before I pay for it. Time-limited is all right, 1-2 uses is all right, and I don't expect you to give it away. Maybe you could add a summary page after the scan but before the cleaning, showing all of the options and actions short of actually cleaning. Do I have to clean everything it found, or can I pick and choose? Did it find really bad stuff, or stuff I want to keep? I'm not buying a program when I need to pay first and get my money back if I don't want it.

That's exactly what the demo copy does.

After the scan completes, click on the menu items in the tree on the left to see what Erase found, or highlight and click on an item in the main window for more information. Then on the next screen you can add/remove check marks to configure different removal options. Individual cookies that are not to be erased are added by the user to the White list.

No, yes, you decide.
