First of all Post a test.(learn how in my sig.)

Also what model of computer is it. Did you build it or is one bought from the store. How old is the computer. Does it do this with all DVD's?

Have you been able to play dvd's in the past. I don't think macaffe would have anything to do with it but then agian, computers are wierd.

Just post that test and we can go from there.

You might have to open up that case and do some troubleshooting.

Yes it does seem to be a driver conflict.

your drive registers as.

JLMS XJ-HD166S DVD-ROM 8467 KB/s (48X) N/A

but is using generic CD rom drivers here.

CDROM JLMS XJ-HD166S

Drive removing it from device manager, and rebooting and see if windows installs it correctly.

Sorry lloydy,

I'm jumping from topic to topic sometimes its hard to keep up.

Okay here what you can do.

Go to Start>Control Pannel>System>Hardware Tab>Device Manager

Scroll down till you see DVD/CD-ROM Drives.

Press the little Cross to make it expand.

Right Click on the Device JLMS XJ-HD166S (or somthing simular to that)

Hit Uninstall.

follow through with whatever Prompts, then if it didnt' prompt you to, you need to go to Start Shutdown, And restart your computer. Then when it comes back up it should automatically re install the DVD drive by itself.

Hope this helps
