  1. Been having major problems with my hp envy x360 with keeping internet connection. MS had senior technician reinstall windows, brand new copy they downloaded. Still missing drivers for the network adapter. They tell me to call the manufacturer and I tried HP they send you to website no drivers for windows 10. Do I need to know who manufactured the network adapter? How would I find out? Aprreciate any help. Thank you.
  2. I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos Intel CORE i7 that is running particularly slow. I've run PC Pitstop Optimize 3.0 numerous times, but it doesn't seem to produce any improvement in performance. I just noticed in the Optimize Browse tab that my computer's operating system is listed as "Windows 8 x64", when in fact the OS is "Windows 10 x64". The OS was originally Windows 8 when I first installed Optimize 3.0, but was upgraded to Windows 10 some time ago. I'm wondering how to get Optimize to recognize the current correct OS, and if this is related to why Optimize doesn't produce the performance results that it once did? Thanks, PHardin.

    Windows Defender Issues

I recently was forced to install the 1709 Windows 10 Fall Creator's Edition, and ever since then Windows Defender is my main AV. I already paid for PCMatic to be my AV, but I can't somehow make it my default. I cannot deactivate Windows Defender or turn on PCMatic via the conventional method of going in the Control Panel. I see Windows Defender and PCMatic Super shield in the 'Secutiry Maintenance' box but the button to turn on PCMatic is greyed out. I thought WD deactivated itself when there was another 3rd party AV installed. It has worked before and WD was deactivated, but ever since the update, it will not turn off and I think it is slowing my computer down. Thanks
  5. Hi, After from time to time facing and got struggling with the problem with OverDrive, not loading the ActiveX and got stuck on the first blank test window on ajaxscan, here you have some hints to be checked: -> Internet Explorer 11 -> Tools -> ActiveX-filtering -> Off -> Internet Settings -> General -> Browsing History -> Delete (with the first and last setting ticked -> Off(?)) -> Security -> Internet -> Default (Medium) -> Trusted Sites -> www pcpitstop.com -> Add If the above do not solve the problem, you may try also these hints: -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Critical ones -> Off (e.g. pop-up blockers etc.) -> Internet Settings -> General -> Browsing History -> Settings -> Show Objects -> Delete old PC Pitstop Components -> Security -> Internet -> Modified -> Allow ActiveX-filtering -> Off -> Run malware checking on ActiveX -> Off -> Enable pop-up blocking -> Off (seen somewhere lower there) -> Advanced Options -> Set options to default -> Set IE11 into default settings Addition 18.09.2017: -> Disable Virus Scanner and/or Firewall Addition 26.04.2018: For the case ActiveX not coming up for loading at all, it maybe due to, that there is no Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder existing, so, please, -> Add it there, lol ... Good luck on troubleshooting! Best regards, PeteVfi
  6. Hello, I have a network of about 15 computers, all in the same workgroup. I can see all of them except I can't map a network drive from 1 of them to a specific one, of course it's the only one that I need. It has worked before, the network settings are the same, sharing is the same. I even tried putting them all in a Homegroup and I still have the same problems with these 2 specific computers. More details below: I need to map a drive from computer "A" to computer "B". When mapping from A to B I cannot even see computer B listed in the network. When I'm on computer B I can see computer A in the network but if I try to map a drive or click on it in the network I'm asked for a username and password. That PC doesn't have a password setup and none of my other connections have that requirement when I connect to them, just this one. Hopefully that makes sense. These problems just popped up recently. We had a few issues on the network of not seeing certain computers but that has since worked out since I made them all part of the same work group. Thanks! Hello fellow users. I have an HP Pavillion with windows 10. last night my pc was running fine and this morning when I turned it on my screen was black and "disk read error, press ctl/alt/delete to restart" was written on the screen. When I do that it continues to return to that page, I am unable to access anything because my mouse is in my keypad and basically it is frozen in that mode. I am thinking maybe the safe mode but how in the heck do I find that in this mode. Also, the Windows icon plus "R" does not bring up the search box or allow me to do anything. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

    windows 10 upgrade

Does any one know how to upgrade for windows 10? It doesn't let some of my windows programs (solite) run.
  12. I upgraded my desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last week. I was doing some work on my checking account online and tried to start my calculator in my Windows 10 and Super Shield blocked it. I found this curious because I do not remember Super Shield blocking my calculator function on the Windows 7 operating system. Has Microsoft changed the way the calculator on the operating system works? I also noticed that Super Shield blocked an app that I'm sure worked from the Internet (Solitaire Collection) so I was not surprised at that, but it blocking the calculator function was something I didn't expect. Oh and I turned off the Super Shield just long enough to use the calculator and then turn it back on. I was wondering if the calculator function or app in Windows 10 has a security vulnerability that I am not aware of.
