  1. Cloud backup question

I recently purchased a new PC and went through the process of transferring (restoring) my files from Carbonite cloud backup. It was a very large transfer. Once it was complete, there were over 800 individual files on my desktop. Some of these were pics, etc. that I hadn't used in years. On my old PC, they were all organized into folders, and many folders were stored under one major folder, i.e. subfolders in a big folder. This is how I expected them to be restored. Carbonite tech support insists that the 853 individual files on my desktop were all pulled out of their original folders and placed on the desktop by me at some time in the past 30 days, which is the time span they use before files are deleted. This is absolutely not true. It took a great deal of time to sort through the mess and clean up the desktop, moving files back to their proper folders. My question is why this happened? Is this typical of any restoration? Carbonite tech support set up the restore for me after the first attempt was unsuccessful, and I specified that I wanted the files restored exactly as they appeared on my old PC. Am I missing something here?
  2. I can't use my PCs until the little Supershield icon turns from green to red, wasting alot of time. And PCMatic just deleted my IPCMonitor.exe program file saying in the summary it was a virus. How do I get my program file back? Is there a reinstall or undelete option? - why all of a sudden does PCMatic think its a virus? Also, when I tried to put this issue in a help desk, I got a Code 2 error. see attached.
  3. Hey, I am new to this forum and like to stick around to learn more about various aspect in technology. However my first question and not the last one is my curiosity on restore softwares like Deep Freeze or Drive Vaccine. My question lies whether when a restore takes place does it remove the Virus or Malware from the system. Keep in mind, the restore point is in the same system as of the restore software. Any information will be great. Cheers
  4. Good day, recently I have started to get Bad Image errors when opening certain programs like iTunes. I have tried everything from a chkdsk to an sfc /scannow. Neither of those worked. I have done a full system scan with bitdefender, spybot search and destroy along with malware bytes. The only thing I have not tried yet is a system restore and that is because it does not work. When I restore to a point it comes up with an error that states that system restore did not complete successfully windows 7 failed to extract a file. Now the only restore points available are not far enough back, it only shows restore points for today. I would need it to restore atleast 2 days back. Please aid me in figuring out what is wrong with my computer. Due to the vast amount of programs that I have on my laptop a windows 7 reinstall would take too long to install the programs back. Please let me know if there is an easier way to fix this problem. 5. In a situation that you tried to restore your system, but it won't launch System Restore (viruses can corrupt it) and tried booting in Safe mode to try System Restore, but still won't launch there is an easy solution, First create a system repair disc by selecting Start, type system restore disc and press Enter and follow the prompts. Only one CD-R will be needed and an optical drive is required. Then boot from the CD (press key when "press any key" shows up), then follow the prompts until you get "Choose a recovery tool" page, then select system restore. Thanks to Lincoln Spector, PCW
