I need some quick and professional help: When I started my Outlook Express yesterday, the newest e-mail was from January... I couldn't believe it and checked it, tried to sort by date, shut down Windows again, rebooted, opened Outlook Express again, but still my e-mails from the last 10 Months are just missing!! I have no idea what happened. Maybe the .dbx file is corrupt, no idea. I am using Outlook Express 6 on XP SP 2. The files in the SENT box and in all other boxes are still there and up to date. Only the INBOX seems to have lost all e-mails from the last 10 months. The .dbx files are there, the INBOX is quite huge, over 1 GB. So, I think all my e-mails are still there, but somehow the .dbx file got corrupted. How can I recover all my e-mails, how can I fix this corrupted .dbx file? I already tried to copy all files and then just import it back to Outlook Express but it won't recognize the full INBOX, still e-mails from the last 10 months are missing. Can someone help me with this and tell me, what is the best way, or the best software recovery tool, for recovering my inbox (.dbx file)?
Trick your address book! Who among us doesn't know someone who has experienced the embarrassmentof unknowingly spreading a computer virus via their email address book? It's time to STOP this from happening by TAKING CONTROL of your emailprogram! For those who are unaware, many computer viruses spreadthemselves by sending themselves to everyone in your address book. Imaginehow you would feel if you were unknowingly infected with a computer virus,and worse yet, your friends, family, and business contacts were beingtargeted by your computer! Well, if you want to avoid this sort of thing,here's a great tip: This tip won't prevent YOU from getting any viruses (you have to scanthose attachments yourself before opening them to do that), but it willstop those viruses from latching onto your address book and sending itselfout to others. To avoid spreading computer viruses, create a contact in your email addressbook with the name : 10000 with no email address in the details. This contact will then show up as your first contact. If a virus attemptsto do a "send all" on your contact list, your pc will put up an errormessage saying that: "The Message could not be sent. One or more recipientsdo not have an e-mail address. Please check your Address Book and make sureall the recipients have a valid e-mail address." Your messages to anindividual or individual addressees will not be affected. You click on OKand the offending (virus) message would not have been sent to anyone. Ofcourse no changes have been made to your original contacts list. Theoffending (virus) message may then be automatically stored inyour "Drafts" or "Outbox" folder. Go in there and delete the offendingmessage. Problem is solved and virus is not spread. Hi: Using the Mozilla Thunderbird Email Browser, how do I set up Emailing in my home network which consists of a WIRELESS Laptop and a WIRED Desktop PC's by using ONE Account at the same Internet Service Provider ...? Is there a way that I could set up an Account (with a separate address) in the Thunderbird Browser at EACH PC, one for the WIRELESS Laptop and the other for the Desktop so that the Email-messages can be selectively delivered either to the WIRELESS or the WIRED PC rather than downloading every Email-message to both PC's at the same time...? And - can this set up be made by using the same (one) ISP Server (ONE Account)? Any detailed advice how could this type of home-network be set up would be greatly appreciated...! MANY THANKS.
After running PCMatic and letting it fix things automatically, I am having issues with my contact list in email. Prior to running this, when I emailed someone, I merely had to type the first letter of the person in the TO section and a dropdown list would appear. Now it doesnt do that. At All. If I try to get the address from my contact list, I get an error message: Something unexpected just happened. Please contact att.net Customer Care if the problem persists. Error code: -99999 And, No, I have not contacted ATT yet because it is a PITA to even find a contact number or email to reach them. AND I know when I tell them it was ok before running PCMatic, they are going to do that sucking of the teeth 'tsk, tsk' thing and tell me I shouldnt have run it, which will just made me more annoyed. I figured I would start with the culprit that caused the problem first. And that would be PCMatic. It is annoying me not to be able to get that drop down list for email. I have never seen this error or had a problem prior to running pcmatic. please tell me how to fix it abbeytoo
