    Failed Win 10 update.

Good afternoon. I use 2 PCs One almost new machine which is up tp speed with Windows 10 upgrades and is of a fairly decent spec. I have a second older machine (5 years approx.) that no longer seems to want to update Win 10. I use the second machine for instructional purposes, for example. I place an instructional Guide on the old PC and work on the newer one. The older PC upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 back when it all started but just lately the second PC just will not upgrade. First it freezes with a blue screen and the message "Stopping Services" I re-start with the on/off switch and the upgrade continues, it goes on and off a few times and then freezes again, the monitor is off, the PC is on but nothing more happens, another re-start. Eventually the machine reverts back to my previous version of windows. That's fine, I can live with an older version of Win 10 but just lately I Keep receiving a message box on the screen urging me to upgrade...............again. The message box suspends use of the PC. This is happening every day. Is there a way to prevent these automatic upgrades or indeed can I get the PC to accept the full upgrade? I suspect not. Do I finally have to buy a new machine. Thanks for reading I'm very grateful.

    Media Player.

Would someone please care to recommend a media/video player the automatically plays any format when activated. I'm using Win10 64bit and used to be able to click on any vid or media and it would open and play, these days very few vid/med actually plays. I often get a message stating that 'This type of video is not supported' or asking me to get adobe player or I click the appropriate video and it just doesn't play. Any ideas anyone please. Thank you. Have a nice day.

    Set as background.

Hi everyone, happy Easter. I have two PCs running side by side. I work on the main PC and run supporting instructional material on the other. I like to have a different picture as a background on both PCs, at the moment I have a Steam-punk airship. When I select a picture from the internet and 'set it' as a background it also appears on the other PC without any action on my part. Bizarre! Can anyone tell me how to prevent this from happening please? I'd like to have two different background pictures. Thank you and have a nice day.

Good afternoon again YKawika. I have tried to carry out your instructions but failed. I disabled Win Def and Win Firewall. When I click on Scan This Computer nothing happens. Thank you for trying to help me - most kind.

Hello helpful people. Just lately I get the rather dramatic BSOD almost daily, sometimes twice, it's been happening for a week or so. I receive the standard warning ie your machine has run into a problem and needs to re-start, gathering the necessary information etc and the 100% sign. There is also a square scan code. I have to 'hard start' and then all is fine, until the next time. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a cure please? I have tried the Windows suggestion of deleting my most recently down-loaded programs, one of which was Registry Reviver from Reviversoft. Thank you for reading, hope yo can help. Have a nice day.

    Windows 10 update.

Hello everyone, good afternoon. I wonder if anyone has experienced an update problem such as this. Whenever I try to update windows 10 it gets to 100% and then locks up (Blue screen and a frozen circle of white dots). I have to 'hard start' my PC to get it running again. If I just hard re-start the update process starts again. Conversely if I re-start and press F8 continuously the PC displays a message stating that it is trying to recover my previous system. This eventually results in my PC re-starting and all's well................Until the next time. Any suggestions or tips as to how I might solve this would be most helpful. Thank you very much.

    Lost email account

Hi David. Very many thanks for your reply, it makes a lot of sense. I was just not aware that MS had discontinued Live. Most grateful. Best wishes.
  13. Is anyone else experiencing problems with windows 10 updates? Every time my PC attempts to auto update it fails. I get the blue screen and the circling dots and the percentage completed but it never ever completes, it usually locks up at around 32%. I then have to 'hard start' (depress the on/off switch and the PC either continues the update. Again, it never achieves the full 100% but locks up again. Today I've reached 85% before locking up. This is after 36 hours of a black screen with the revolving circle of dots. My only recourse has been to re-start and the continuously press F8, the PC then reverts to a previous setting by going through a previous set of updates, Everything is then OK until the next auto update when the whole annoying process repeats. Please, does anyone have a solution to this issue? Alternatively, how can I stop auto updates? Last question. How do you get into safe mode with Win 10? Thank you.
  14. Could someone help please? I have been using a 'live' account eg *******@live.com For some reason and without warning the account now fails to function, no receive, no send. Is it possible to recover the account or must I start again and lose all the emails that must be stacked up in there. Thank you for taking time to read this. - Have a nice day.

Hello and good day. I have a odd 'password' situation and would welcome comment please. About 18mths ago my Son gave me his PC, he'd bought a new one. It's a decent machine running W10 and is about 4 years old and I'm thrilled to bits with it. My Son had set password access which I decided I would by-pass, I checked how to do this on the internet and unchecked the relevant box. All has been fine until 5 days ago when the PC suddenly required a password. Neither my Son or I remember the original password but I have been able to access the PC with my Microsoft details. I immediately accessed the 'disable password' system (right click start - select run - type netplwiz - access user accounts - uncheck box - etc etc) the box is still unchecked and yet the PC continues to require a password for me to gain access. It's a bit of a pain having to sign-in everyday. I would be interested and grateful for any comments or solutions anyone might like to offer please. Thank you and have a nice day.
