  1. Broadband Quality Tool

So your results are pretty much in agreement. Now you see why I am having a problem. My results don't match - they're not even close. I'm going to have a conversation with my Time Warner tech support to see if we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks for your info.
  2. Broadband Quality Tool

Here are my results for a one day test with the Broadband Quality tool. It did stop after the end of the test and gave me the green START button to start another test. The results of this test are strikingly different from the speed test in Overdrive. I have a question for caintry_boy - You have posted your results from this tool so how did they compare to the Overdrive speed test? 1/7/2017, 12:20:17 PM Download Speed: 58.66 Mbps Upload Speed: 16.57 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 1:20:34 PM Download Speed: 58.94 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.26 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 2:20:35 PM Download Speed: 57.94 Mbps Upload Speed: 20.9 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 3:20:36 PM Download Speed: 58.61 Mbps Upload Speed: 20.78 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 4:20:33 PM Download Speed: 57.79 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.49 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 5:20:10 PM Download Speed: 59.9 Mbps Upload Speed: 20.95 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 6:20:40 PM Download Speed: 56.94 Mbps Upload Speed: 19.56 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 7:20:18 PM Download Speed: 58.52 Mbps Upload Speed: 18.22 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 8:20:22 PM Download Speed: 58.03 Mbps Upload Speed: 14.7 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 9:20:27 PM Download Speed: 57.51 Mbps Upload Speed: 12.65 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 10:20:48 PM Download Speed: 58.28 Mbps Upload Speed: 18.85 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/7/2017, 11:20:43 PM Download Speed: 57.65 Mbps Upload Speed: 18.47 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 12:20:18 AM Download Speed: 58.91 Mbps Upload Speed: 18.76 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 1:20:31 AM Download Speed: 58.97 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.77 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 2:20:31 AM Download Speed: 59.85 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.77 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 3:20:30 AM Download Speed: 59.58 Mbps Upload Speed: 22.04 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 4:20:30 AM Download Speed: 59.72 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.87 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 5:20:31 AM Download Speed: 59.89 Mbps Upload Speed: 22.13 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 6:20:37 AM Download Speed: 59.79 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.94 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 7:20:38 AM Download Speed: 57.84 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.16 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 8:20:31 AM Download Speed: 60.29 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.95 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 9:20:31 AM Download Speed: 58.52 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.54 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 10:20:36 AM Download Speed: 57.99 Mbps Upload Speed: 20.71 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable 1/8/2017, 11:20:40 AM Download Speed: 57.64 Mbps Upload Speed: 21.07 Mbps Client: 2607:fcc8:ae12:6a00:3967:f7a7:5aab:2fd8 - Time Warner Cable

Yeah, isn't that amazing! I am supposed to be 200Mbps down and 20Mbps up. According to that everything is great! Since the Broadband Quality tool started working, I started a test with it yesterday at 12:20 pm so it should be done within another hour. So far, the average speed it is showing is 58.6Mbps. Quite a discrepancy between this tool and the Overdrive test. Also quite a discrepancy to the speed test provided by Time Warner. I ran it twice before I got on here. The first run gave me a 26 Mbps down and the second was 45 Mbps down. Hard to figure out what to believe! Just ran Time Warner again and got 38.9 Mbps download. I am open to any thoughts on what to do (or believe) about this information.

I decided to do the test. Let's see if I can post it correctly here - http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=25936459 There you go. Let's see what we can learn.
  5. Broadband Quality Tool

Don't ask. I don't know the answer. I posted on 5 Jan at 4:02 pm that the program had been running for hours and nothing had happened. At 9:20 pm it ran it's first test and concluded with a final test at 9:22 am on 6 Jan. I checked it again in the evening of 6 Jan and it was apparently still running because the red STOP Test button was still displayed. I figured when the duration of the test was over the green START button would be displayed. Anyway I stopped it and put the PC into standby. I started it again at 12:20 pm today, 7 Jan, and it just finished its 4th test at 3:20 pm. I didn't do anything and I didn't change anything! MAGIC! I do have a question - on the Status tab it shows the results from the very beginning at 9:20 pm on 5 Jan and ending with 3:20 pm today (so far). The Report tab is showing the current tests. I can click on the report that started on 5 Jan and it will show those results. Is this the way it is supposed to work? My average download speed is about 58 Mbps which is a far cry from the 200 Mbps I am paying for. From looking in the registry I know it is going to speedtest.net. Is there any way to tell which server it is using? That might be useful information when I talk to Time Warner about the low speeds. I do appreciate everyone's help on this problem. It would be nice to know why I had the problem but why look a gift horse in the mouth!

The program has been running for hours now and nothing. The Status and Reports tabs are both blank. There is no indication of logs in C:\Program Files (x86)\PCPitstop\BroadbandQuality. However, in C:\Program Data\PCPitStop\BroadbandQuality there is a blank log.txt created this morning at 10:29am. caintry_boy asked in the other forum about by computer. I am running Win 7.1 with an intel I3 at 3.7Ghz.
  7. Broadband Quality Tool

I have never run this for the complete duration of a test. I understand from reading this thread and that in the other forum that there will only be one report for each test duration. I have assumed that the hourly speed tests would show up. The first time I ran this, I left it at the default for one week. After four hours I could not see that it did any testing. I changed the duration to one day with a test every hour and let it run overnight. There was still no indication that any tests had been run. Are you telling me that if I set the duration for one day that I have to wait the full 24 hours before any results are shown?
  8. Been there, downloaded it, doesn't work, posted such in this forum. Why does it work for you and not for me? That is the question!
  9. Broadband Quality Tool

I am having a problem with the Broadband Quality Tool. It doesn't do anything! The person who started this topic, Bayman, couldn't download it at first and then he could but it didn't work. I have read the entire topic and apparently there were a couple of fixes to the program from the time this started to the time when it appeared to be working properly at the end of Oct 2016. Bayman also posted this topic over in the Internet and Networking forum which is where I found it. From there I was referred to this topic in this forum. The program downloads and will install. I can fill out the form and start the test but after that there is nothing. How do you make it work?
  10. Ok fellas, let's not bicker. I appreciate the fact that you both took the time to reply. IntelGuy is correct in that I want to use the tool over time. I have run the speed test from PCPitstop and some other place (don't remember which one) and the speed test provided by my ISP (Time Warner). There is a huge disparity in the results. I am supposed to have 200Mbps download and 20Mbps upload. My results from the ISP test are about one fourth of what the others are showing. My slowest download with the PCPitstop test was 125Mbps and the max was well over 200Mbps. The test with Time Warner has been somewhere in the range of 30 - 60Mbps. During one run, my upload speed was actually faster than the download! Now, my Time Warner cable system has experienced a couple of outages over the last few days (mostly high winds) but that may be an indication of a bad connection somewhere. We'll see. One thing I am not sure of - Is it for certain that when I run the PCPitstop speed test that it actually tests to my computer and not to my ISP. If it only tested to the ISP, that could explain a lot! Just to provide a little more info, I am in southwest Indiana and my ISP speed test (the server) is in Ohio (Columbus, I believe). If either of you have any more thoughts on this matter I will be happy to read them. I am now going to read the information in the two links referenced in the previous reply and I am going to the forum IntelGuy mentioned in his first post. Thanks again!!
  11. Has anyone been successful in using the PCPitstop Broadband Quality tool? It hasn't done anything for me. I saw it on the Internet Speed Test page, clicked on the Learn More button, read about it and downloaded. Installed it, filled out the form, and started the test for a one week period with a test every hour. Four hours later, nothing! Changed the test period to one day with a test every hour and left it overnight - nothing! I believe I am having problems with inconsistent internet speeds and wanted to run this to find out what is happening. I saw another thread with this same name and the person was having the same problem and someone else said they thought it had been fixed. Apparently it hasn't, or I am doing something wrong ( the operation is so simple I don't see how I could be doing anything wrong!).
