  5. Good I like to copy those files and put them in the DLLCACHE for insurance, just so they are handy if anything like this happens again so please do the following: Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results". Copy/paste the text inside the Codebox below into notepad: Here's how to do that: Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK. This will open an empty notepad file: Copy all the text inside of the code box - Press Ctrl+C (or right click on the highlighted section and choose 'copy') FCopy:: c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe | c:\windows\system32\dllcache\winlogon.exe c:\windows\explorer.exe | c:\windows\system32\dllcache\explorer.exe Now paste the copied text into the open notepad - press CTRL+V (or right click and choose 'paste') Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript" Here's how to do that: 1.Click File; 2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop; 3.Change the Save as type to "All Files"; 4.Type in the file name: CFScript 5.Click Save ... Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe. ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply. CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Leave it for now, We may need this to extract Explorer and winlogon from, so we can replace those files if replacements aren't already on the machine, once we have replaced the infected files, then you should update your computer as well as MicroSoft has stopped supporting SP2.

  9. Perfect I believe that stop message has given us what we need without having to run the scan. This is what I need you to do: Boot the computer with the OTLPE CD wait till the reattogo desktop loads (this takes a very long time - be patient) First I want to make sure you have the service pack files accessible to you and that i8042prt.sys exists there Now you need to navigate to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 This is how to do that: At the bottom left of the ReattoGo GUI is a small windows type symbol > that's your start button go to Start> My computer> C:\ local files > windows > Service pack files > i386 locate > i8042prt.sys - if it is there > right click it and choose copy now back out of that folder and navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers folder >locate the i8042prt.sys file > right click on it and choose "rename" rename it to i8042prt.sys.old now right click in the space beside that file and choose "paste" the i8042prt.sys file you previously copied from the i386 folder will now be in the drivers folder exit and reboot normally
  10. Hi, pardon my intrusion, but Juliet asked if I could assist. I'll do my best. Couple of things we need to do: First we need to find the file name and error you are getting: Reboot your computer: When you boot your machine, press F8 to list the startup options, exactly as you would if you were trying to enter Safe Mode Select "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure", as shown here: When your system errors, write down the STOP error code, as well as any written out error message back here. The STOP error will always appear, but the message may not. You are looking for this: Hopefully it will list a file name that we can then go after in OTLPE NEXT- do you have access to another computer that can burn CD's as we need to make a boot CD. Please do the following: Print these instruction out so that you know what you are doing. Two programs to download First Please downloadISOBurner and save it to your desktop. This program will allow you to burn OTLPE.ISO to make a bootable CD. Double click the ISOBurner set up icon to install the program, from there on in it is fairly automatic. There are Instructions for the iso burner here if you need them. Second Download OTLPE.iso save it to your desktop. Now burn OTLPE.iso to a CD using ISO Burner. {NOTE: This file is 292Mb in size so it may take some time to download.) When downloaded double click OTLPE.iso > this will then open ISOBurner to burn the file to CD Reboot the infected system using the boot CD you just created.Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here Your system should now display a REATOGO-X-PE desktop. you will find an icon on the desktop called OTLPE > Double-click on the OTLPE icon. When asked "Do you wish to load the remote registry", select Yes When asked "Do you wish to load remote user profile(s) for scanning", select Yes Ensure the box "Automatically Load All Remaining Users" is checked and press OK OTL should now start. Change the following settingsChange Drivers to SafeList Under the Custom Scan box type this in:%systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav Press Run Scan to start the scan. When finished, the file will be saved in drive C:\OTL.txt Copy this file to your USB drive if you do not have internet connection on this system Please post the contents of the C:\OTL.txt file in your reply.

  17. Hi, That seems to be very unusual. Part of the issue may be that you have three AV's installed. More than one antivirus can cause conflicts, system slow downs and crashes. Decide which AV you wish to keep and uninstall the others. To disable avast > do the following: Go to Start > All programs > Avast.... top left corner there is a small arrow > click > Settings > click on the Appearance tab > select "Show avast tray icon" OK that will make it easier for you to disable in the future. To disable it from the panel click > settings > troubleshooting > click the middle three boxes containing "disable" > OK Then delete the copy of combofix from your desktop After you have uninstalled all but one AV and have it disabled. boot into safe mode and run combofix...when combofix reboots, make sure you boot back into safe mode to allow it to complete the log...then post the log (to enter safe mode > press F8 repeatedly on boot up > arrow up to safe mode)
