  1. Ok I re-read the entire post. I think i've confused you guys or something. In the beginning I only had 1 partition. That was my c: drive. When my mom used her reinstall disc there was 3 options and I guess she hit the wrong one which was to reinstall windows and since windows was already installed on c: it wouldnt let her put it there so it was put on d:. So now I boot on drive D: which was probably only supposed to be used in a situation like this. The problem is that now that my c: drive is clean I cant get back into it even after I edited that file. If my moms camera worked i'd record and show you what was happening but as of right now I can only tell you. I do want to get rid of this partition and leave it untouched like before. Im not sure how to do this though. The disc my mom used is called "Software CD-ROM". The website is called www.supportforyourpc.com
  2. Well I scanned my c drive with mbam and it got rid of like the 100 infections on it so it SHOULD be clean. So I should take everything that I want out of my C drive an upload it to a storage site then how do I put a clean install in? If you can, please be a tad simpler. Every time you guys say partition my brains like "huh?". Terry explained it though so I better go read that again.
  3. But I want it to be like when I first started. What should I do? Pop the xp disc in and install it over or what? I just want things back to normal like I never had any virus in the first place. Is that so much to ask for? I need to boot from my C drive. Im booting from my D drive. Thats the problem. I explained it all out, and posted screen shots and other info. you ask for it and i'll post it up. As long as it gets fixed.
  4. If I click on the other partition or w/e its called it ask me to install windows. is this whats supposed to happen?
  5. Acutally im not going to remove the one on the top. On this one I dont lag on call of duty because the drive is so uncluttered. So remove the safeboot, save and im good. here we go.
  6. So should I remove the one that is on the top?
  7. So should I remove the one that is on the top?
  8. Mine looks like this ^^ [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /safeboot:minimal Should I copy what you said it SHOULD look like and save it?
  9. Well my moms aunts name is terry. it might be with an i instead of a y though idk.
  10. I just want to boot from my c drive and not my d. My mom said that when she installed windows again it wouldnt let her install it to the c drive and thats why she put it to the d. So after mbam is done cleaning out my c drive im going to press f12 at startup and see if I cant fix this thing.
  11. Yeah it was the baby that through me off as well and also how he always wanted my moms permission to help with things. Stupid multi-gender names >.<
  12. Well my mother did the reinstall. She has some kind of windows xp recovery disc that she used. Im pretty sure she did it wrong. My friend said to press f12 during startup and that I could choose which hard drive to boot from. Im going to try this because it seems to be a simple fix to my problem if it does fix it. but first I have mbam scanning my c drive in case any ickies are in there.
  13. Heres a video of what im talking about(this is actually me recording and exactly whats wrong) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdPmv9pMZ84
  14. I realize that. But its not working that way. When I boot up I have 2 windows xp to boot from that are both the same I believe. I think my mother has installed windows xp on my computer twice over. My computer is treating the backup drive as its main drive and I need to change that somehow but im not sure how.
  15. Ok I have a 500gb hard drive. On my computer it splits it into two drives: Local Disk "C" and DRV_VOL2. Local disk SHOULD be the default one that the computer runs off of. But it isnt. All of my information is running on the other drive. How to I change this and bring back all of my old information?
