  1. After much tinkering, I have found that simply changing Win 7 to "performance" in Advanced System Settings gives a score exactly the same as Win XP. The whole appearance is the same too.. The score is repeatable and consistent in this mode. The DPC latency is largely unaffected.
  2. Probably. The point I think is that although the Full Tests were a good and reliable indicator for XP (any changes to BIOS, Hardware, Installation etc were directly related in Pitstop), this seems not to be the case in Win 7. Or not the RC anyhow. As a frequent XP PC builder, I tend to use Pitstop as a check - have I turned off System Restore, do the various elements score as predicted and so on. It looks like I may have to do several runs with Win 7 to aggregate the scores. And then there are the huge DPC Latency funnies in Win7.... More to play with, solve and improve....!
  3. Different again http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=22529790 No defrag has taken place. This is the RC, the RTM will be little different, from the feedback I've had from those "with it"....!
  4. That's what I said originally! In XP there is almost no variance between runs at any uptime. In Win 7, it varies dramatically between runs. The defrag thing is a red herring.
  5. Everything's dropped, note disk now <65% of what it was http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=22529790
  6. It's not a particularly low one though - Sod's Law has kicked in.... The Power settings are High Performance defaults - they appear OK
  7. Memory performance??? http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=22529790
  8. First one is XP. this is typical and varies little Second one is Win 7 - this is the best of 3 runs. I will redo sometime.... for a lower figure http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=22529074 http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=22521645
  9. Hi, long time (and grateful) user of this excellent tool. However, while evaluating W7 RC, I note that the results I get are very variable form one test to another. The results (except Internet Bandwidth) vary by about 40%. They don't vary between tests by more than 5% on XP 32bit, and never have. The results for Win 7 are generally always lower than the equivalent XP runs. In both OS cases, I always test with Power Management off. I dual boot, so the machine is hardware identical.... Is this to be expected? Win 7 appears to run Sandra 2009 within a very few percent of XP, likewise HD Tach. 3DMark 2006 always runs 300-ish points below in Win 7. Cheers!
  10. Sorry, I would have thought you had known that the working standalone 3D test had been included in the test suite....
  11. Since nobody bothered to reply - I tried the full test, and yes, the 3D test now works correctly. Perhaps you could let us know what fixed it? It seemed at first that you inferred the Graphics card I had was naff?
  12. The same server is used by SpeedTest.net - as the Maidenhead server. It's disappeared completely form there... I think PCP should consider changing the UK server due to poor uptime of the TranceFM server.
  13. The default London bandwidth checker server (TranceFM) is down again - please change the default UK server! The test fails and has to be done as debug.
  14. Does this mean the 3D test should now work in the Test Suite????
