  1. I tried the full tests, but kept getting the message about needing active X. I checked all the settings as instructed by the error message and all seemed to be set correctly. I tried just the active X test and IE7 was closed by windows vista home premium with a DEP fault. I have now disabled DEP (using bcdedit /set {current} nx AlwaysOff) and everything in your tests works as it should. Does this imply that the Active X test is using DEP protected memory to run its test? P.S. I had posted this on the tests forum, then noticed that perhaps it should be on the feedback one instead. So now its on both, but feel free to remove whichever is inappropriate.
  2. Thanks for this tip. I have tried it but, perhaps because I was forced onto Vista Home Premium when buying a replacement laptop for a defunct one, when I "save as" in Paint I also have to choose a type (various bmp options, gif, jpeg, tiff, png). Whichever type I choose I change the suffix to "ico". When I try to use my new icon to change the icon on an item, I get a message stating that my folder does not contain any icons - despite the fact that I can see them in Explorer with the "ico" suffix and icon file type is displayed in properties. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks Ken Ormson
