    BSOD

Anyway I got it running again although I am not quite sure what the actual problem was. I do not however believe it was the RAM as I replaced my old stuff and with some I bought this morning and turned it on and it did the same thing. I went through pulled all the cards out and resat them. I cleaned the thermal grease off of the CPU and heatsink and replaced with some new stuff. I even bought a new PSU, a nice one this time(650W ANTEC TRIO). I got the PSU installed and everything plugged in and then hit power. It started right up! So now all I have to do is monitor the CPU temp just to make sure I got the thermal grease on there right. I have rerad stories of people not getting it on just right and having some issues. Thanks everyone for your suggestions...

Ok I tried a wireless mouse that I use on my laptop. It worked straight up. I unplugged my G5 and pugged it back in. The pc recognized it and prompted me to restart my pc in order to use it...I did. It is now on the screen that is prompting me to press ESC for bbot menu or delete for BIOS. I press ESC and it just sits there... Oh damn! it just loaded to my desktop as I am typing this...it only took about 10 minutes!! good grief! My G5 mouse is working now. So now it seems that it is just real slow on the start up. What would that be? Also why am I getting the screen prompting me to press ESC or Delete?

I now get a screen that states wht my BIOS is(Pheonix-AwardBios blah blah) and at the bottem it prompts me to press delete to enter setup or ESC to enter boot menu...I pressed delete an it took a few minutes to get to the BIOS. I set it to the correct date and time. I do not really know my way around the BIOS too well. I saved and restarted and am now back to the same screen. I pressed ESC and am waiting to see what happens...

Well I tried resetting CMOS. I restarted the pc and just let it sit. It went to a screen that gave me the choice between safe mode and entering BOS. I am in the BIOS now and wil disable the logo screen...

The logo screen comes before the screen that allows me to enter BIOS therefore I cannot do that

  13. wow...maybe the earring thing isnt the right analagy...how about: upgrading old stuff is like polishing a turd. Rub it and buff it all you want but when you get done it is still a turd.

    BSOD

I was on my pc last night playing some Battlefield. I quit the game and proceeded to cruise the internet for a bit before work. I got to my clans website and went into the forum. As I was reading a thread my screen went black and the the dreaded BSOD popped up! My pc shut down and then started up on its own but it didnt make it all the way. When I power up my pc there is a screen that comes up with my motherboard logo on it and then it continues on its merry way to my desktop. Not now though. Now it freezes at the MOBO logo screen. I have replaced a few items in the last year. I bought a DFI Lanparty UT 250gb nf3 mobo with a AMD 2800 processor(both used), a new dvd drive, a nVIDIA 6600 gpu and a new WD Raptor 10,000rpm 150gb harddrive. All has been well(quite well!) until last night. I was thinking maybe a power supply problem or memory problem. The psu was a cheap special at Compusa. Memory is pc3200 centron. I put my old harddrive back in to see if that was the problem and it was the same result. Thanks for any help or ideas at all.
