  1. ..................ah oh!............ HAPPY THANKSGIVING
  2. This is very sad news indeed. caintry_boy was always very pleasant and helpful. He also showed great enthusiasm for members here that returned from a long time after being away, as well as new members. In fact he showed that enthusiasm to all members. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his friends and family. Rest in peace.
  3. wooo... That was pretty far away, cool though. How 'bout one closer to Gilmour's prime .... Was rattling the windows with this one.
  4. Good to hear c_b. Go easy as you heal, it's not hard to get into something at home that may not go well ....
  5. This was such shocking and sad news that I was not sure how to respond to it for a while. I never met IntelGuy but we communicated back and forth quite a bit mostly during the overclocking competitions, and fooling with the benchmarking programs for the best score possible. This was my post a The Raptor Pit a couple of days ago .... I could never catch him, although I sure did try. He made me better by always staying one step ahead. Funny thing is, I rather had fun losing to him in the competitions out of the respect I had for him and the way he dealt with people. Always polite, supportive and helpful. Not to mention an overclocking guru ... with major major hardware. He will be missed. It was pretty and it went fast!! http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php?/topic/10043-intelguy-has-passed-away/page__view__findpost__p__178882 He was a pillar at these forums and is irreplaceable in my opinion. Although as people, all with our own personality characteristics, none of us are replaceable. I am quite sure though that the the technological assists that God has at his disposal are now functioning much better and at blazing speeds at this point!
  6. has not set their status

  7. Dang caintry that doesn't sound good. My next move would be pull the battery out for 24 hours and pray to the mobo gods ... ... hope it works out for you. A little late here I know but it sounds like the board did not like all that QPI/VTT voltage with only one stick of memory.
  8. raising that cpu vtt voltage helps as well. Also ... VDIMM has to be within 0.5v of Uncore voltage ... (refered to on some boards as QPI/DRAM (Asus) or QPI VTT (Gigabyte) volts or CPU VTT (DFI))
  9. here are screen shots of my volt settings for a fairly stable overclock @ 4.2 and 4.6 gig ... 4.2G 4.6G As you can see, I had to raise cpu vtt, qpi pll and dimm volts along with cpu voltage. Every board is different as well the cpu, so these values will not work with caintry's. In fact mine is an evga and his is a gigabyte. Just wanted to show which voltages I had to raise, and which ones I could leave at auto. Also the dimm voltage is above the recommended volts per Intel.
  10. I've had very good luck with mushkin memory. If they tell you it will run at 2000 it certainly should, In fact better. I had to rma with them once, sent in an email and got a response in 10 minutes. No problems, best service I've had with anyone. I don't know your board at all, makes it tough to give you advise. Took a while to get used to this evga board. Lots of different voltages and settings. If you think you've tried everything, I would suggest emailing mushkin. http://www.mushkin.com/Contact-Us.aspx
  11. My new Diamond hd 5970 ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814103088 ... crashes on 2d. Found out it is because the pre-set 2d clock is too low (157mhz) ... http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm...threadid=122942. After boot up, crashes on 2d every minute or so. Ran through the instructions to set the default 2d clock higher (300 mhz) in a profile and no problems at all. Makes you wonder how much they test these products ... drivers ... bios's ... before they release them.
