  1. As he has done already. The bigger concern is the fact that this child is going unsupervised and spending a good majority of his time on an internet forum. You may say it is not my place to question this. You may be right but I do happen to try to protect children when parental supervision is obviously lacking. I was also taken back by Volts comments about having no concern over children posting here 24/7 as it was not his business. As a moderator in what is claimed to be a moderated forum, it certainly is his business. Especially if there is a Federal Law telling him so. I await Dave's response.
  2. At the request of Volt, I am moving a discussion to this board. You have a very active forum participant who states he is 10 years old. He seems to spend most of his waking hours in the forum. I am a concerned parent and adult. There is a Federal Law dealing with children under 13 on internet sites. Volt, one of your moderators, has admitted to having no regard to that law. The discussion and his comments can be found here. As the administrators of the forum, what are your thoughts and intended actions?
  3. Not to try to lay blame during this time of tragedy and mourning, but note the dates of the offical NASA reports below. This is directly copied from NASA's own web site. Look at the last one below, dated 4/19/1985, and left wing damage. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1998 (11:16 AM EDT) MISSION: STS-95 -- SPACEHAB-SM, SPARTAN & HOST STS-95 images VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 2 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. EST TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Nov. 7 at 12:04 p.m. EST LAUNCH WINDOW: 2 hours and 30 minutes MISSION DURATION: 8 days, 22 hours and 4 minutes CREW: Brown, Lindsey, Parazynski, Robinson, Duque, Makai, Glenn ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 310 nautical miles/28.45 degrees Data will be collected with these tools during ascent as part of the Shuttle program's study on how external tank foam debris impacts orbiter tile damage. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1997 (4:22 PM EST) MISSION: STS-89 -- 8th MIR DOCKING & SPACEHAB DM STS-89 images VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 LOCATION: Vehicle Assembly Building TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Jan. 20, 1998 at 10:31 p.m. EST (under review) LAUNCH WINDOW: 7-10 minutes MIR DOCKING DATE/TIME: Jan. 22 at about 4:49 p.m. EST MIR UNDOCKING DATE/TIME: Jan. 27 at about 3:18 p.m. EST TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Jan. 30, 1998 at 3:43 a.m. EST MISSION DURATION: 9 days CREW: Wilcutt, Edwards, Dunbar, Anderson, Reilly, Sharipov, Thomas (up), Wolf (down) ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 160 nautical miles/51.6 degrees With investigations on the cause of Shuttle Columbia's unusual tile damage still underway, engineers are considering the possibility that pieces of thermal foam debris from the external tank may have caused the damage during ascent. Because of this possibility, technicians will access the STS-89 external tank in the VAB after umbilical mate and sand down portions of the thermal foam "rind" located on the ribbed intertank. Work will be focused 15 ft. aft of the external tank nose, on two thruster panels which measure 10 ft. wide and 15 ft. long. Sanding the foam will not compromise the tank's thermal protection, but may reduce the probability of foam debris. 04/19/85 Discovery sustains heavy damage during return from space mission The space shuttle Discovery was heavily damaged during its return to Earth today but made a safe landing at Kennedy Space Center. A televised inspection of the craft after landing revealed a large hole in the left wing. Numerous tiles and protective blankets on other areas were missing or damaged, and the shuttle was streaked with what appeared to be the remains of tile adhesive or filler that goes between the tiles. The tiles and insulating blankets protect the shuttle from the searing heat of re-entry. Although there has been no official estimate of the damage, observers said Discovery appeared to have sustained more damage than any shuttle since the first flight of Columbia.
  4. lilbill: Except for a couple of glasses of wine, I do not know what got into me to make the post I did last night. It is in no way defensible and I apologize to you for my inappropriate remarks. You of course have every right to be on this board and have shown you have a lot to offer. Your knowledge of computers is far beyond mine and it continues to amaze me. Again, sorry and it will not happen again.
  5. Thanks, but I guess it is just as easy to cut and paste into the MS Word program and run a spell check from there.
  6. Even if the kid is 10 years old, if he wants to play with the big boys he has to take the heat. If not, he should go back to Sesame Street. I do admit he is very advanced for his age, but I have to wonder why he is spending most of his time in this forum and the ones he created rather than spending it in school, doing homework and hanging out with his buddies. He is 10 years old for crying out loud. Where are his parents?
  7. test 2: MGB It works! Thanks. Now, a second question. How does one attach a music file to ones homepage or to an internet forum post?
  8. Thanks. Lili, the Bravenet site is filled with too many pop ups. Test: <a href=http://www.classic-british-cars.com/mgb-roadster-pictures.html>MGB</a> Jim, it does not work.
  9. OK, I don't know how they do it... I know how to shorten a url using free programs on the net. What I don't know is how to change a url into the general topic of the URL. For instance, say I wanted to talk about MGB's. I could post the url to an MGB Roadster car page, and it would look like this:http://www.classic-british-cars.com/mgb-roadster-pictures.html If I shorten it, it would look like this: http://tinyurl.com/55vr But how do I change it so it is shown only as MGB? Thanks.
