  1. Clicked on File Explorer> Network and found an unknown network device named "austin" with the following credentials: Amazon KFAUWI Now, I don't use any Amazon Echo devices, etc., so I was a bit taken back to find it there. Come to find out that this is showing up on a lot of people's networks. Here's what it is and how to be rid of it: Thanks to Double_TT_845 DO "This has to do with devices scanning the wifi spectrum and found yours. It has no implication of security as your WPA2 password will protect you from the device entering your network, hence no IP is shown even though the MAC is. If you want to get rid of looking at other peoples' devices when clicking NETWORK, disable Microsoft windows connect now service. Easiest way to get to Services is to go to control panel - Administration Tools - Services. Look for "Windows Connect Now" and right click for properties (or just double click to get properties directly.) In the drop down of startup type, choose disable. If that service is running, you may want to stop it manually or just boot the computer. This works for me and I do not see any more ECHO device, Display device or other Amazon or Sony device that do not belong to my network." https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security-winpc/amazon-device-randomly-showing-up-on-network/4e356dde-efc8-4d1a-a4ad-6295b28b5193 This worked for me. Anyone else finding this device present? Y
  2. It is with great sadness that I have to let you all know that IntelGuy has passed away. He suffered a major heart attack late last week and is no longer with us in body. He has always been a true gentleman and a great friend. The dude knew a thing or two about computers as well!! All of my love and prayers are being sent to his family in this time of need. I will send them a link to this thread, so that they can see just how much joy, knowledge and help I_G brought to these forums. Me ke Aloha Y kawika
  3. Recently, several Windows 10 machines are finding themselves having issues with their USB keyboard and/or mouse not working. I had this occur last Monday and I was and am running the most current version of Windows 10: 16299.248 In any event, in order to get it all back, I did a repair install using the Windows 10 media Creation Tool: Media Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Some others have gone in and rolled back the last Windows update to be able to get things working again. So now that it's all back and running properly I went looking to see if there is a way to prevent this from happening again to my USB keyboard and/or mouse. I ran across this setting and have implemented it. Configure Power Management Settings on Windows 10 Creators Update Modifying the Power Management settings is a workable fix to troubleshooting USB not recognized or not working hitches for Windows Creators Update since Windows machine will turn off the USB controllers to save power. I'm not sure if this will prevent these issues that Microsoft is causing when our USB ports suddenly stop working, but it's worth a try. To disable it, follow below steps. 1. Open Device Manger. 2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers item. 3. Double-click the USB Root Hub device and then turn to the Power Management tab. (if there’s more than one USB Root Hub device, repeat these steps.) 4. Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, and then click OK. In any event, I haven't had any repeat issues, and don't know if this tweak will help, but I know that it isn't hurting anything to try. Just wanted to pass this on. Y

  7. Okay, thanks. I'll send you a PM and let's see if we can get you back up and logged in. Y
  8. What do you mean by checking your "online program"? Do you see a PC Matic icon on your desktop? Not the tray icon by the clock, but an icon on your desktop. Double click it to open PC Matic. Are you logged in there with your credentials and License key at the top center? Y
  9. Here Bob, Give this a try: To reset your password click the link below: http://www.pcpitstop.com/support/#/kb/login-issue If you do not receive the link to reset the password in just a few minutes, be sure to check your junk mail folders both on the local email client and also at the online email program. Y
  10. Hi Bob, Are you able to currently log into your PC Matic program? If so, then you can change your e-mail address and/or password right there in the program. Open PC Matic and on the first screen click on (Edit) near the top, below the license key. You can change your information from there. If you have scheduled scans you will need to reset the scheduler to include your new e-mail address. You've got 2 computers on your account, so if you are unable to do this on one, then try it on the other. Once you change your password, then go back to the first and log in with your new credentials. Let us know if this works for you. Thanks Y

    Supershield blocks Microsoft Edge

Microsoft pulled the update to version 1809 because of all the bugs and multiple people getting their personal Documents and photos deleted after updating. https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2018/10/6/17944966/microsoft-windows-10-october-2018-update-documents-deleted-issues-windows-update-paused I rolled mine back to version 1803 and recommend anyone else running 1809 to do the same. Ghosts or Angels

LOL! No, I'm enjoying this current adventure while I'm allowed to be in human form. I have no doubts that the physical is finite. Great movie, by the way........... Bill was the perfect actor for that part. Y

    Supershield blocks Microsoft Edge

Yep........ on the money! If Super Shield is "paused" using the tray app, then Edge opens and performs properly. Even if Super Shield becomes active again when Edge is open, there is no problem. The issue is at Edge's launch. Edge is opening, but getting the web page to display is where on initial start up is where there is conflict. Our team is working on it and is in contact with Microsoft about this issue. One thing that Tex found that I hadn't seen previously is that some are reporting a loss of data and files from their Documents folder when updating to version 1809. https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-october-update-problems-wiped-docs-plus-intel-driver-warning/ Have you guys run into anyone that has experienced this after the update?
