  1. I have a hp g7 notebook PC. It is running windows 7. When trying to get on the internet, it says it cannot be connected. Ran HP network check and port 316 came up. The modem is working since my other computers are connected. Please help. Thank you.
  2. Is there any hope or should I just do a clean install? I don't know why I couldn't copy the commands properly in the article that started out in warning #2, and then went into windows xp crash written by a non-geek.
  3. I think i'm doing it right and I cannot get to the repair option. Only the partition options.
  4. When I type in bootcfg it says: Use the BOOTCFG command for boot configuration and recovery, followed by BOOTCFG/ADD BOOTCFG/REBUILD BOOTCFG/SCAN BOOTCFG/LIST BOOTCFG/DISABLEREDIRECT BOOTCFG/REDIRECT {PORT BAUDRATE} and so on After all of these commands, there is C:\WINDOWS>_ I have no idea which commands to put in. I figured I would try this anyway, if I could get it done. I realize that Tom would be sending me some more info. Just wanted to try this, but I cannot get it done. Again, thank you for your help.
  5. OK, now I am completely lost!!
  6. -Thank you for your help, but I am no computer wiz, although I am trying. I am trying to copy the commands, but I must be doing something wrong because I am getting no where. It keeps saying invalid or it repeats what I type in caps. Is this hopeless?
  7. Does this make sense - that I do not have the choice to repair?
  8. I do not get the option to repair. I get 3 options: 1 To set up windows ex on the selected item, press enter 2 To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press c. 3 to delete the selected partition, press D. I was inititially doing it wrong when I was asking you about the administrators password. When I put in the CD, it searched for existing xp. and then it gave me the repair option. That is when I got the administration passwored, etc. I did not first press enter when the welcome to setup came on. when I did press enter and accepted the license, there was no option to repair.
  9. After administrator password ( I left it blank), C:\WINDOWS>_ What do I type in the blank?
  10. It is asking for an administrators password. Am I doing this right and if so what is an administrator password?
  11. I clearly do not know anything about this. Am I going to lose everything on the computer? I have found the disc. Thank you for your help.
  12. I do get the option last known good configuration, but it still goes to the blue screen. The exact message is: STOP: c000021a {fatal system error} The windows logon process system terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 ( 0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down.
  13. I cannot boot my son's computer. He has a dell inspiron 6000 with xp. I cannot start it in safe mode either. A big blue screen comes up with windows shut down, fatal error. Is this computer finished? Thanks for your help.
  14. I need to know how many slots are there for the memory and if there are 2, are they both filled or is it just using one. Thanks.
  15. Someone gave me a dell desktop and I want to find out the specs, especially how much memory is in it. What program can I download for free that will scan my computer and tell me this? Thanks.
