  1. Post a Pit test for us to look at. Maybe we can see something there. Have you tried any of the online scans to see if you have a nasty that is not being picked up with your scanners? TechExpress how to
  2. You don't by any chance have Wareout Spyware Remover do you? I found this.
  3. I just finished setting mine up last night. I also had a few problems. First, you say you are using WEP. Is it set to 64 bit or 128 bit encryption. Some cards are not as compatable. Try using 64 bit instead of 128. Another thing, you will have to enter the key "generated in setup" for each wireless computer. Also, are you using the mac filtering option? If so, the mac address of each computer needs to be entered into the router.
  4. How new is the laptop? Does it have the System recovery wizard available in the control panel. If you have that, it will restore the system to "out of the box" status. That might get you what you need. I think it's F10 on bootup to put you into that mode.
  5. I won't comment on AOL.......but you might read this..... Port Magic
  6. Please don't jump the gun here...........Are you looking at the history of where he has been? I know at one time a situation happened to my wife while searching for items for a wedding. A misspelled word resulted in numerous XXX windows opening up faster than she could close them. She didn't deliberatly go there. Take it easy on hubby....he may be telling you the truth!
  7. Rolo2, I see you have Cleanup installed.......run it and it will get rid of all the junk. 118 meg junk files... Probably wouldn't hurt to defrag that drive after you delete the junk.
  8. Guys, I have a Compaq laptop and to get into the bios on it.....at boot, as soon as you see the Compaq splash screen, the cursor will blink in the upper right hand corner.....as soon as you see the cursor...press the F10 key. That's all I have to do on mine.
  9. Well, DKServices.exe was not in Task Manager so I tryed to start it up from there. I looks like it starts for about 10 seconds and then quits. Still can't run it.
  10. I may try your suggestion, but it wouldn't run with or without networking in safe mode. I shall return!
  11. I have used Diskeeper Lite for a while on my W2K machine but haven't tryed using it in safe mode until today. It refuses to run in safe mode. Does anybody else have this problem? When I try it in safe mode I get 2 error boxes. The first one says "Server Busy This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "switch to" to activate the busy program and correct the problem." Ok, so I click the "switch to" button and another box opens and says... "Diskeeper Unable to connect to the Diskeeper service in the selected machine. Connecting to the local Diskeeper service..." OK, so I press the "OK" button, I get a brief flash on the screen and then nothing happens. It's my understanding that Diskeeper Lite will run in safe mode....I know it does on Win98se....I ran it this morning on my other machine. Anybody have any clues what could be going on. I have run all the usual scans..spyware, virus and such. Nothing shows up.
  12. Keith, you don't suppose it is trying to format a cd rom or other drive? Unplug all other drives and check that the hard drive jumper is set to master. ( I know you have already checked) Have you been able to get into the bios yet? You will get that kind of message for the hard drive if "auto detect" is not turned on in the bios. Since you removed the onboard battery, it may not be set no to auto detect.
  13. Well, you have the BANCOS.G virus but since I'm not a trusted HijackThis advisor, I won't be able to help you. Sorry.
  14. You must be thinking about chkdsk /f Chkdsk /f don't verify the info in your files can be read like scandisk does.
