    Samsung/Napster MP3 Player

Have you tried to delete the partition and recreate it and then reformat to Fat32 through "Disk Management"......right click My Computer, Manage, Storage, Disk Management? The reason Windows won't give you the option to format from NTFS to Fat32 is Fat32 is the "old" format and they want to get away from that....hence the NTFS format. You'll probably have to delete the partition and start over. Also a third party utility such as Partition Magic may be usefull.

    trouble printing PCP articles

All I did was highlight everything you want (all 25 tweaks), under "file" select "print", when the print box opens, put a tick in the "selection" instead of "all", click ok and print......It gave me 5 pages.

What do you suggest for free A/V, etc?

Well, after looking through Grisoft's site, I have figured out why AVG 8 won't install correctly on my W2K Pro machine. Seems that AVG 8 won't install correctly if the disk drive is not formatted NTFS. My disk is setup for fat32 file system. According to Grisoft's site, an update to correct this problem will come out in mid June. So, if you're having trouble that the update database is disabled, and the auto updating don't work, along with a couple registry handles missing.......then check to see what format your disk is using. This is probably your problem.

What do you suggest for free A/V, etc?

Been trying for 2 days now to get AVG 8 to install correctly on my W2K Pro machine. No go. After installation it reports that the database is disabled...not to mention 3 error messages. I guess I'll try Antivir and see what happens.
  6. Since you say you can access it from another computer I would say it's being blocked by something. Windows firewall maybe? Try turning off the firewall to test it. Try adding the site to your "trusted" web sites in Internet Explorer. Could also try adding the site to the "host" file. I don't use Vista so I can't tell you how to go about doing this. Just some thoughts on things to check.

    Internet Explorer Script Error?

Follow Joe's advice about unchecking "Display a notification about every script error" and also put a check into the 2 boxes above that...."disable script debugging (other) and "disable script debugging (Internet Explorer). Adding thoes 2 checks will keep that from happening.

    Task Manager

The answer is to activate the "Welcome Screen" in user accounts. If you don't use the welcome screen, that option is removed from the task manager.

    Help with .pub file extension

Publisher files can't be opened without Microsoft Publisher...that is I don't know of anything that will open them. You can download a trial version of Publisher and maybe save the file to a different format.....or there are online file converters that you send the file to that converts it to a different format for you...just give them your e-mail address and a link will be e-mailed to you to get the converted file. Another option would be to ask the sender to send it to you in a different format.....perhaps PDF. Good luck. Bruce....you beat me!

    document viewer msi

The document viewer should be on the setup disk for your printer. Probably in the setup folder on the cd. You can reinstall the printer software to corrrect the problem or you can download the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility here and run it to correct the problem.
  12. I guess this is a little late but the font size can be changed.....but it also affects all Windows ....not just Internet Explorer. Right click desktop, properties, advanced button, click on the word "normal" just under the word "active". At the very bottom of the box you will see the font used and the default size 8. Change the 8 to a larger number...the larger the number..the larger the text size. Ok and apply. You now have larger text. You can also change the color and the text style too....Have fun!

    FAX viewer will not display

You can try this... open Windows Explorer, tools, folder options, file types tab, scroll down to "tif" and highlight it. Toward the bottom of the box will say "opens with" .... click the "change" button and select the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer". Click OK. Now your "tif" files should open with the Windows and Fax viewer. Also do the same for "tiff" files too. That should take care of the problem
  14. Do you have Microsoft Word already on your system? If you do..MS Works don't play well with Word...especially Word 2002. I think there is a patch available from Microsoft for the Works/Word problem. I'll see if I can find it. Found it. linky This may not be your problem...but I do know Word and Works don't play well together...at least not on 2 of my systems.

    IE Browser

Right click Internet Explorer icon, select properties, content tab, auto complete button. Uncheck web addresses. ( I have nothing checked in mine) Should take care of the problem.
  16. Try hard booting the router. Unplug from the wall for a few minutes then reconnect. Sometimes this helps.

    MODEM LIGHTS IN TASKBAR

Ky Colonel, both Bruce and Stormy13 are correct. Follow their directions and you will get what you want.....I just tried it with the directions Bruce gave and they are spot on...I am running XP Pro with SP2.
  19. Well....try this.... "Password" is for the system and "admin" is for the disk. This is supposed to be the default according to these threads.....from a different forum... Read Patty's post here. Scroll down..
  20. mme, you almost got it right. The registry key is correct but the source path is wrong. The source path should point to the root ........C:\ Your i386 folder should be copied from the cd to the root of C drive. Once you change the source path, be sure to reboot.

Sometimes a hard boot of your modem/router will help...turn it off for several minutes and restart ...have you done that?

1 gig is better than 2?

First off let me say..I don't have Vista. I understand that it "throttles" the cpu back to about 50% by default. If that's the case, then look into the power management... Open the Control Panel, then open System and Maintenance. Go to Power Options, pick High performance. Click on Change plan settings underneath it, then click Change advanced power settings. Go to your Processor power management section and change both minimum and maximum processor states to 100%. Hit OK See if that helps.
