  1. well i opened it up the dust bunnies were the size of jackrabbits, found the memory stick it's in a tight spot but doable for me, just have to move the harddrive a little and carefully hold aside some bundled wires. i really must be honest this took me and my son about two hours to do. we went ahead a removed the stick then put back in just to make sure we could. i just now got back online and i feel confidant that when i get the new memory stick i will be able to replace it with no problem. i want to thank everyone for thier sympathies and thier support. it's what i love about this place, even unknowledgeable noobies are treated with repect. if i could i would buy every one a  or two. thanks again
  2. exactely !!! oftentired , thats why i was wondering about adding more memory from outside the case, but as i said new machine in the works. the funny thing is except for the memory this pc is just fine for my needs stormy thanks for info and link
  3. it's a Gateway Astro all-in-one . it has 64mb of ram, only has one slot. is there anything else you need to know? OS: 98se
  4. thanks for the info....had already been to crucial so i know what to get, was just a little leery about opening this up. , if it was a tower i wouldn't be so cautious, but apparently the memory is located somwhere uderneath the monitor and i'm not sure i can get to it. tried finding a diagram or something but i guess i diidn't word it right over at google or it doesn't exist online. i am going to open it up if i can , if for nothing else, to clean the dust out as subliner suggested thanks again i will post again if i get it done, if you don't here from me again you know i made a very big mistake.
  5. thanks often......looks like i have some reading to do, don't mind, nothing wrong with learning somthing new your explanation was very understandable. let me pick your brain again.......is there a way to add more memory without cracking the case?? i have an old gateway astro pc and it seems no one really wants to open it up to add more memory i would be willing to it myself if i could just find someone whos done it and survived i've googled this problem but i am coming up empty. maybe someone out there knows how to do this. just looking for a temporary fix till i save enough for new pc. thanks again
  6. was just wondering if two computers can be joined together and then share the memory? for example...... lets say you have two computers , both with 64 mb of ram, can you join them together in some way and get 124 mb of ram? i kknow you could put the memory stick from one into the other(if they were compatable) but i was wondering if you could just hook them up and share everything. thanks for listening to an old woman ramble, just one of those ?s that nag me once i think of them
  7. ok... i was wondering about that one. thanks
