2018-01-09 Today my windows 7 x64 computers (5 of them all running PC-Matic) have not been able to install a large Security Update just released by Microsoft as listed below- "" 2018-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4056894) Download size: 231.4 MB You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect. And I would PC Matic to fix this without me having to jump thru hoops every month.

The CLEAN BOOT procedure above did not work for one of my computers so I decided to do a clean install of Windows 7 and while I was at it I used an SSD which saves lots of time !! Everything worked great all updates are installed all 200ish of them..

This fix worked on a couple of my computers , 1. Back up your computer in case bad happens. Make a hard copy of these directions now .. 2. Go to Windows 7 button in lower left corner of screen .. in search box type in "msconfig" go up and right click on SERVICES and run as admin, basically your doing what is called a clean boot _ When at the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION BOX , on the GENERAL tab go down and hit the selective startup button then uncheck the "load startup items" box. Now go up and click on the SERVICES tab go down to the bottom left and check the "Hide all Microsoft Services" box... then go over to the right and click the DISABLE ALL button...hit apply ...hit Ok exit 3. reboot the computer 4. Now go to Windows Update and install the Updates. When the updates are installed then 5. ..Windows button, search msconfig ....Box... General Tab hit the NORMAL Startup button go to SERVICES tab and all the services should already have checks in the boxes. IF not, if the enable button is Bold, hit it and then hit apply, hit ok ..exit 6. REBOOT should be back to normal now.
  4. 2017-11-24 This month noticed that One very large Windows 7 update is not installing. It attempts to install, restarts the computer, says it is updating computer then says update failed then reverts back. All this installing and reverting back is taking up to a 5 minute wait for it to revert and finally offer me a sign in screen. The primary update which seems to be causing the issue is this - below first line is update name and then other info about it. 2017-11 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4048957) Download size: 203.4 MB You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect. Also, I have tried going to services.msc and setting PCPitstop realtime to "disabled" then attempting to install and get the same results.
