It is amazing/amusing how people differ over what progress means.



Where at the same time Linus Torvalds is apoplectic over TinyDRM for Linux 4.11 code quality.
 " Because I am _never_ going to accept this kind of crap in the future."

It is wonderful to have new and improved kernels, but what I would really like to see are trouble-free and full use of graphics cards or platforms for linux. I want the manufacturers to deliver their product to the open source  community in a working state that gives the buyer full value for their dollars spent. 
I really don't feel like that is asking too much.
