Hi, I had a option at the top of web page i went on saying it needed latest update of java. I clicked on it and it did it. Have't had any pop ups or issues. Only thing is when I click on the Mcafee it opens but doesn't show anything in the page. Is this potentially caused by this java update? If yes how do i get the mcafee to come up properly? thanks

I have never seen a legitimate update being obtained that way.
The Java updates notifications appear at the bottom lower corner of the desktop, where the Windows Update notifications also appears; near the clock.

Your system may have been compromised.
Read the post from Juliet (link below) about a similar way to get PCs infected thru websites.

You should run a complete system scan (link below) from the PCPitstop website

If your system is infected the head to our Viruses, Spyware, Adware Subforums (link below) for instructions about removing the malware.
