My girlfriend has a Dell and when she starts it up its a black screen that says. "auto detect entering power save" and she can't go any further. Any ideas?

Kinda. She said she tried but it wouldn't do anything when she clicked f12, I believe.

Ok, I got more info. As soon as you start it, the Dell logo appears and up in the corner shows F2 safe mode and F12 setup. The middle of the screen shows the power save thing at start up and shut down. Nothing happens when these buttons are pressed. Thought maybe something was up with the keyboard. I plugged it into different slots (USB) and still the same thing. Its a Dell Inspiron 530s with Vista.

Ok, I'm lost, I don't know Vista. With XP when you pwr up immediately start tapping repeatably F8 (F2). It is hard to just press the key at the right time.
