I am getting a pop-up that carries no message at all...just blank (about 3" x 5") with the heading as follows:
http://media.fastcli...p.cgi?cid-42439 etc
I googled this and several people have had the same thing. Anybody heard of this or how to get rid of it? I have Spy Sweeper, Spy Bot, Spy Blaster, Ad aware, Zone Alarm and EZ Anti Virus. Google respondents just said get a good Spyware program. This popup seems to be in a world of its own. Anybody have a clue? In Google I just entered media.fastclick and got the negative responses to getting rid of this.

Dear Dino777,

Fastclick.net isn't malicious. It's just an advertising server. Now, If you wish to block any popups from that server to your computer. Go here: http://stratton-company.com/hosts My website will give you a step by step guide to help you utilize the power of what's called " The hosts file".

I hope I have answered your question.

As I said, It's not malicious....... When it comes to computers in general there are more then just one way to do things. I'm sure you know that. Plus, cookies are inevitable. You will get them no matter what. The beauty of the hosts file is that it acts like a local DNS. If you have a website blocked in the local DNS your computer cannot connect to it, and it cannot connect to your computer. Even if you use that so called fix for fastclick.net, what's the chance that it's not going to come back? Slim to none. I was just offering an alternative.

I don't disagree with you one bit. That's one reason why I use the Hosts file. I can block any website I want. Advertisements, pornography, spyware, etc. It's an excellent tool that was actually implemented in Windows, imagine that.

Mr.Gibson has a podcast dedicated to The Hosts file.

Why are you quoting me without providing any context? Um. No one knows what you are saying without you telling us. I am not psychic. I do not have any supernatural powers.

By the way, my website is down. So, go to the url below for information about the hosts file.

Please explain.

Thanks.
